This Week at Rotary - Nov 6th - Classification Talks

When Rotary started membership was category specific and a classification was necessary.  As Rotary has evolved through the years, we are no longer category specific and we can have many members from the same industry.  Also many of our members learned in the last RLI sessions the classifications are no longer required.  On November 6th we will get a chance to hear from some of our newer members and help them carry on the tradition from our found Paul Harris - the Classification Talk.

This is an opportunity for them to tell us about themselves - and the topics range from their business dealings to their personal lives.  Most importantly - why they joined Rotary and their aspirations.

This is a meeting you don't want to miss, learn about our members, maybe there is someone you want to learn more about and haven't had the chance to connect?  Maybe you'll learn something new and really want to connect with that person?  Either way come out and enjoy some time with your fellow Rotarians, you are sure to learn something new.

Upcoming Meeting/Event - Veteran's Night - Nov 13th

Join us to celebrate and thank former and current military veterans from the community and our club.  We encourage members to bring guests especially veteran guests.  Please contact me with names of veteran guests, Branch of service, Rank and what they did.  Our guest Speaker is Spc Christopher Swenda.   He was one of this year's Glass Tear Honoree's at the Veterans Community day.  He had a very inspiring message that I think we will all enjoy.

All Veteran club members and guests are invited to wear something from your service days.

This is always a great event for not only the Veterans but for all the club members.   Everyone is encouraged to come out, hear some stories, learn about the Veterans and say "Thank You Your Service."   Open to Guests as well.

In Case You Missed It - Halloween Fall Fest - Oct 30th

News • Lafayette, CO • CivicEngage

What a great evening organized by Amira!!!  We had some fun with costumes, fun with activities and even some prizes.  Make sure you don't miss this next year.  We may even bring back the costume contest.  Shot out to the Brookside staff for dressing up as M&Ms!

This year we are trying something brand new!

Team up with your fellow Rotarians to dominate some classic Fall themed games.

There will be games for all abilities, prizes and a lot of fun!

Costumes are embraced but not required.

Community Needs
Community Needs

From time to time our fellow Rotarians find causes that are near and dear to their hearts and have a great impact on the community that require some giving of items or funds.  This section will house all of those things, from ongoing items to ones for a specific time frame.
  • The Period Project with the Tri-County YWCA is ongoing. School has started again, and with it, the continuing need to provide feminine hygiene products for girls in Pottstown and the Pottsgroves. Girls who have to miss school because they cannot afford period products lose up to a week each month. Please consider making a monetary or in kind donation. Please reach out to Patti Derr if you have questions, and thank you for supporting equity in education.  Patti Derr at 610-850-4737 or pnderr343@gmail.com. Thank you for your generosity.
  • St. Paul's Diaper Bank is located at 927 N. Franklin St in Pottstown and it provides free diapers, wipes and other essentials to low income families in Pottstown. The Diaper Bank is open every Wednesday from 10am-12pm. We are seeing a dramatic increase in the number of families we serve each week and welcome donations of unopened childrens' diapers and pull-ups in any and every size, as well as wipes. We are the only Diaper Bank of its kind for the Pottstown community and we would like to expand our hours in order to help more families, but we can only do that with donations and community support.

If you would like your cause included in this section please email the details to Richard Gray by noon on the Friday previous to the bulletin you would like it included in.  Include if it is ongoing, dates, brief description, contact info, website for additional info(if applicable), whatever you want included in the post.
