The Fourth of July is coming up next week and Rotary is heavily invested to make it a memorable event for the community. First will be the parade. We need people on the morning of the Fourth to help put the parade float together. Meet at the Pottstown Roller Mills at 8:00 to put final touches on the float. We put the big Duck on the float, but need flags mounted, July Fourth banners pinned and more to make our float attractive. We then need volunteers to help ‘Marshall’ or kick-off the beginning of the parade on High Street beginning at 9:15. Easy work, and you can still jump on the float for the ride! Our new fearless parade chair is Angela Dement, who is handling the zillion details long established by Dick Frantz. AND, did you hear: Dick Frantz will be the Parade Grand Marshall, riding with his grandkids! We also need 2 or 3 volunteers to drive golf carts which have been promised to us at no charge. Contact Deb Penrod, text (215) 840-9943 or Angela Dement at (484) 223-7384.
The parade kicks off at 10:15 am with Rotarians assembled at N. Bailey and High Sts to walk the parade. Try to congregate there around 9:15 to beat the crowds. Second will be the Duck Race. We will have our tent set up at Hanover and High Sts, right in the center of town, to sell "last-minute" Duck Race tickets. Sales commencing as soon as the parade is over. Anyone who can help sell tickets should let Jamie Sanchez know ( 484-645-6974 ) and be there for the early afternoon. The Duck Race drawing will be at 4:00 pm. We will be posting winners on our website by Tuesday. |
