This week at Rotary - guest speaker Julia Hurle
Julia Hurle, the new Trail Program Coordinator for the Schuylkill River Greenways is our guest speaker this week.  This program was suggested to us by our own Peggy Whittaker.  Julia will come tell us about the incredible resource we all have right in our backyard.

The mission of the Schuylkill River Greenways National Heritage Area is to connect residents, visitors and communities to the Schuylkill River and the Schuylkill River Trail by serving as a catalyst for civic engagement and economic development in order to foster stewardship of the watershed and its heritage.

Julia is a Landscape Architect, Open Space Planner, and Trail Builder.  She was on the Steering Committee that worked to create the Schuylkill River State Heritage Area in 1995.  She is developing a GIS mapping platform for the Schuylkill River Heritage Area, building water trail launches and expanding the Schuylkill River Trail.  Julia, her husband Mark, and their two college-age kids have moved to the Phoenixville area to be closer to our trail projects.

Please note - we are planning resume a hybrid meeting format.  For hybrid meetings we are aiming for a minimum of 20 in-person attendees in order to support the meeting logistics.  For those comfortable to attend in person, masking and social distancing rules will be followed.  Registration is required for in-person attendance so that we can plan meals. Register here if you have not done so.

This is the second posting of her application.

July 4th Activities

The Pottstown Rotary Club will again organize the community parade to be held on Sunday the 4th of July.  It will begin at 11 am on High Street at Adams and last about one hour.

Steve Smith needs help in decorating our float on Sunday morning - which will be about 8:30 am.
Deb Penrod is taking registrations for participants to help with the parade.  She needs eight people to volunteer to organize the participants on Sunday morning.
These people can also walk with the float in the parade.
We need four people to walk among the parade watchers soliciting donations.  Sprinkling cans will be provided for donations.

We will also need help at the end of the parade to set up the Duck at High and Hanover Sts. and our booth for selling Duck Tickets during the Pottstown GoFourth event on High St.
We need people to sell tickets from 1 to 3.  The Duck Race will be held at 3 pm.  We will draw certificates to determine the winners.

If you can help for any part of these activities, please let us know -
contact Dick Frantz by phone 610-308-1424 or email prfrantz@aol.com

Thank you,

Dick Frantz
