This week at Rotary:  Pottstown Dragon Warriors - Feb 15th
Pottstown Dragon Boat Warriors

The Pottstown Dragon Warriors team is one of the brightest additions to the Pottstown athletic scene. Based at the Pottstown Athletic Club at 263 King St, the Warriors most recently have been seen transporting Santa Claus across the Schuylkill River to open the Pottstown Christmas Holiday season. The Warriors offer training, fitness, and entertainment on the River. The team's training at the Pottstown Athletic Club ("PAC") includes "erg" equipment and an indoor paddle pool, the only paddle pool on the East coast, which helps to attract world-class athletes to our town. Our own Pottstown Rotarian,  Enid Dunmire-Swinson, is a member of the prize-winning team.

The PAC is a 501(c)3 non-profit youth & adult multi-sport organization, also offering Cross-Fit Training, karate, boxing, Clean-Street Community Service opportunities, and other services.

Join us for a tour of PAC, watch some classes in session, and learn more about the Dragon Warriors and everything PAC has to offer the community. Box dinners will be available.  Please be aware that PAC, as one of their many services to the community, offers a Resurgence program to help addicts on their road to recovery.  This event will be a dry event.  This doesn't mean we can't go out afterwards and enjoy a drink with friends at one of the many establishments our town has to offer!

As a bonus, the PAC is housed in the former Pennsylvania National Guard Armory, a magnificent 1906 building that has survived proposals for demolition, including one proposal decades ago to turn it into a parking lot.

***This is an offsite meeting:  263 King St, Pottstown, PA 19464***

We are also considering them to be one of the main beneficiaries of our Bowling for a Cause fundraiser so come check them out and see what they are all about and how they support the community.

Rotary Youth Exchange

Rotary clubs channel their commitment to service at home and abroad through five Avenues of Service, which are the foundation of club activity. Youth Service, one of the five, recognizes the importance of empowering youth through leadership development programs. Rotary Youth Exchange is one of many youth leadership development programs offered by Rotary and was started in 1920 by Rotary International.

Daphne Lobet, our exchange student from Belgium, has headed back to her home after what has been a year full of great experiences, including her discovery of Chick-fil-A!  Thank you to all the Club members and host families who provided opportunities to her.
Do you know a student who you would like to see have this same growth experience?  Now is the time to talk with them and get them to talk with Lauren McCloskey or Mike McCarthy.  The world is open!
