This week at Rotary - guest speaker Jeff Furmanchin

Rotary International has added PROTECTION OF THE ENVIRONMENT to the list of our core values. One of the most important messages on this topic is "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle"!

Protection of the environment goes hand-in-hand with other traditional Rotary pillars of health and clean water. Recycling in 2021 isn't just bins for old newspapers anymore. State of the art technology includes mixed stream recycling, flexible plastic packaging recycling, public drop-off centers for e-waste, and many more innovations.

J.P.Mascaro's is at the forefront of this technology, even implementing a new pilot program here in Pottstown. Our speaker, Jeff Furchinman, General Manager at Mascaros' new division TotalRecycling, Inc in Birdsboro will be talking about what his company is doing and will answer your questions on this vital topic. Mascaro's serves a number of municipalities by exclusive municipal contract and is also available directly to many other residents.

Guaranteed to be a relevant and informative evening.

Please note - we are planning to continue with a hybrid meeting format.  For hybrid meetings we are aiming for a minimum of 20 in-person attendees in order to support the meeting logistics.  For those comfortable to attend in person, masking and social distancing rules will be followed although relaxed if you are vaccinated.  Registration is required for in-person attendance so that we can plan meals. Register here if you have not done so.

Rotarian remembered - Sharon Rittenhouse

image

We sadly share that Sharon M. Rittenhouse passed away Saturday, August 21, 2021. Her husband, Keith, and daughters, Cassidy, Reagan and Taryn, stayed with her through the evening. Sharon supported District 7430 professionally for the past 8 years and served as the District 7430 Administrative Assistant and later as Administrator, working with leadership and helpful to all District Rotarians who called or e-mailed her.

Past District Governor Janet Kolepp tells us, “She became a companion and confidante to me as we navigated a most unusual Rotary year in 2020-2021. She told me on many occasions that she 'loved Rotary!'  Her insight, experience and Rotary knowledge impacted significantly on D7430 success over the course of eight years and with nine District Governors. She was truly a Servant Leader.  It was an honor to know her and we will all miss her greatly.”

She was a proud Rotarian and an amazing woman: A wife. A mother. A sister. A daughter. A friend. Sharon always showed up with a smile on her face and a helping hand. She was thoughtful, kind and generous with her time to serve others while keeping her family at the center of her world.

She was a member of the West Reading-Wyomissing Rotary Club serving as club secretary on the board of directors. We are all better Rotarians because of her guidance and the skills and knowledge she shared with so many throughout the district.

Sharon, you will be forever in our hearts!
